ETHOS

I feel my stool is stuck and can't pass it even after an enema.

Patient

Hi, thank you for taking my call. I've been having some trouble and I'm not sure what to do. Can you help me figure out what steps I should take next?

Triage Assistant

Where does it hurt?

Patient

It's not exactly pain, but I'm feeling very uncomfortable in my lower abdomen.

Triage Assistant

Does the pain shoot anywhere else? (e.g., chest, back)

Patient

No, it's mostly just in my lower abdomen. It doesn't really spread to other areas.

Triage Assistant

When did the pain begin? (Minutes, hours, or days ago)

Patient

It's not really pain, but this uncomfortable feeling started about two days ago.

Triage Assistant

Was the onset of the discomfort gradual or sudden?

Patient

It was more of a gradual thing. It wasn't too bad at first, but it's been getting more uncomfortable over the past couple of days.

Triage Assistant

Does the discomfort come and go, or is it constant?

Patient

The discomfort is pretty much constant. It hasn't really gone away at all since it started.

Triage Assistant

Is it getting better, staying the same, or getting worse?

Patient

It's been getting a bit worse over time.

Triage Assistant

How bad is the discomfort on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is mild (doesn't interfere with normal activities) and 10 is severe (excruciating pain, unable to do any normal activities)?

Patient

I'd say it's around a 6. It's not unbearable, but it's definitely interfering with my regular activities.

Triage Assistant

Have you ever experienced this type of lower abdomen discomfort before? If yes, when was the last time and what happened that time?

Patient

No, I haven't experienced this type of discomfort before. This is the first time something like this has happened.

Triage Assistant

What do you think might be causing the discomfort?

Patient

I'm not entirely sure, but I have this feeling like my stool is stuck, and even after trying an enema, I haven't been able to pass it.

Triage Assistant

Do you have any other symptoms, such as back pain, diarrhea, fever, urination pain, or vomiting?
