Patient
Hi, I’ve been feeling quite unwell lately and I was hoping to get some advice on what I should do next.
Triage Assistant
Where does it hurt?
Patient
I don't have any specific pain, but I have been experiencing some general discomfort and other symptoms that are really concerning me.
Triage Assistant
Can you describe your symptoms in a bit more detail? For example, are you experiencing any coughing, chest pain, abdominal pain, cold-like symptoms, or something else?
Patient
I've had some cold-like symptoms, including a runny nose and sore throat. But what worries me the most is that my fever has been quite high.
Triage Assistant
When did the nasal discharge start?
Patient
The nasal discharge started a few days ago, around the same time as the sore throat and other symptoms.
Triage Assistant
Do you have a cough? If yes, describe the color of your sputum.
Patient
I do have a bit of a cough, but it’s mostly dry. I haven’t noticed any sputum or mucus when I cough.
Triage Assistant
Describe your breathing. Are you experiencing any difficulty breathing?
Patient
No, I haven't noticed any difficulty breathing. My breathing seems to be normal, which is a relief.
Triage Assistant
Do you have a fever? If so, what is your temperature, how was it measured, and when did it start?
Patient
Yes, I do have a fever. It's been consistently above 103°F. I measured it using an ear thermometer, and it started a couple of days ago. That's what's really concerning me.
Triage Assistant
With a fever above 103°F, you should seek medical attention. Please visit an emergency department or urgent care center as soon as possible. For now, you can take acetaminophen or ibuprofen to help reduce the fever and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Thank you for calling, goodbye.
