ETHOS

I have chronic mild abdominal pain lasting over 4 weeks.

Patient

Hi, thanks for taking my call. I'm experiencing something that's been persistent, and I'm hoping you could provide some advice or possibly schedule me for an appointment.

Triage Assistant

Where does it hurt?

Patient

It's in my abdominal area.

Triage Assistant

Does the pain shoot anywhere else, like to your chest or back?

Patient

No, it doesn't really shoot anywhere else. The pain is pretty localized to my abdomen.

Triage Assistant

When did the pain begin?

Patient

It's been going on for over 4 weeks now.

Triage Assistant

Is the pain gradual or sudden in onset?

Patient

The pain started gradually and has just been persistent since then.

Triage Assistant

Does the pain come and go, or is it constant?

Patient

It's a constant pain, although sometimes it feels a bit stronger or weaker, but it never fully goes away.

Triage Assistant

How bad is the pain on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is mild and 10 is the worst pain you can imagine?

Patient

I'd say it's around a 3 or 4. It's mild but definitely noticeable and uncomfortable.

Triage Assistant

Have you ever had this type of stomach pain before?

Patient

No, this is the first time I've experienced something like this for such an extended period.

Triage Assistant

What do you think is causing the stomach pain?

Patient

I'm not entirely sure what's causing it. I've tried to think about any changes in my diet or lifestyle, but nothing specific comes to mind. That's why I wanted to get some professional advice.

Triage Assistant

What makes the pain better or worse? For example, does it change with eating, moving, or taking any medication?

Patient

It doesn't seem to change significantly with eating or moving, but lying down sometimes offers a bit of relief. I haven't taken any medication specifically for it because I wasn't sure what would help.

Triage Assistant

Do you have any other symptoms like back pain, diarrhea, fever, painful urination, or vomiting?
